Hi guys! After seeing this on Olivia’s blog I decided I have to join in on this fun end of year book survey created by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner!

Before we get into this I’d like to note that all the graphics, excluding the featured image, belong to The Perpetual Page Turner, and I in no way own any of them.

Best book you read in 2016?

This is so hard, but honestly I have to say Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton, but there are many more books I love equally.

Book you were excited about & thought you were going to love but didn’t?

Hmmm, More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but it was a bit too confusing for me to follow the story.

Most surprising book you read?

I absolutely adored The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner, but I was very hesitant to read it.

Book you “pushed” the most people to read (and they did)?

I’m not sure if people have actually read it in follow up to my recommendation, but I pushed Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton.

Best series you started in 2016? Best sequel of 2016? Best series ender of 2016?

Best series I started would be The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo although Ruin & Rising isn’t impressing me very much so far. Best sequel has to be Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater. Lastly, my series ender has to be… none? I actually didn’t read any final books to a series in 2016, oops.

Favourite new author you discovered in 2016?

Adam Silvera, 100%. I love his books so much.

Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton. I wouldn’t call mystery out of my comfort zone, but I definitely don’t read it much (and I need to change that).

Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book of the year?

Again, Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton.

Book you read in 2016 that you are most likely to re-read in the new year?

The Color Project by Sierra Abrams. I love this book so much and I have a special place in my heart for this gorgeous book. (This book isn’t out yet, I was lucky enough to get an EARC of it).

Favourite cover of a book you read in 2016?

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. *heart eyes*

Most memorable character of 2016?

Simon from Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

Most beautifully written book read in 2016?

I have to say two, because I can’t choose a favourite. The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace and Milk & Honey by Rupi Kaur.

Most thought-provoking/life-changing book of 2016?

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys.

Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2016 to finally read?

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo.

Favourite passage/quote from a book you read in 2016?

“If you’re going to live, you might as well do painful, brave, and beautiful things.”

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

Shortest and longest books you read in 2016?

Shortest is a novella, The Voicemail of Magnus Bane by Cassandra Clare at 15 pages. Longest is The Color Project by Sierra Abrams at 514 pages.

Book that shocked you most?

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. This book shocked me in many ways. I was shocked because of a major plot twist and because I wasn’t expecting to like this book much, but I adored it.

OTP of the year?

Simon and Blue from Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

Favourite non-romantic relationship of the year?

Ronan and Blue from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater.

The Darkling from Shadow & Bone.

Best 2016 debut you read?

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner.

Best world building/most vivid setting you read this year?

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.

Book that put a smile on your face/was the most fun to read?

The Color Project by Sierra Abrams. This book wasn’t fun to read at all times, it was very sad at times. It definitely did put a smile on my face, and at most times, it was very fun to read, though.

Book that made you cry or nearly cry in 2016?

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera almost made me cry.

Hidden gem of the year?
