Diversity Spotlight Thursday

Diversity Spotlight Thursday #1

Hello friends! Thanks to my dear best friend, Ava, I’m doing my first Diversity Spotlight post! I’ve seen this weekly meme created by the lovely Aimal floating around so I decided to join in on the bandwagon.

Basically, the main point of this meme is to feature 3 diverse books:

  1. A diverse book you have read and enjoyed.
  2. A diverse book that has already been released that you haven’t read yet.
  3. A diverse book that has not been released yet.

The best part of this is that you get to choose your own topic, as long as your chosen topic is about diversity!

For more info check out the original post that has more information and rules about this meme!

Click on the title of the books for the goodreads links if you’d like to read the synopsis!

My chosen topic: books that feature black protagonists.

1. A diverse book you have read and enjoyed.

THE HATE U GIVE by Angie Thomas.

“Enjoyed” is an understatement for this book. I absolutely loved it with all my heart. It was such an amazing, important, and powerful read. I highly recommend this book.

2. A book that has already been released but you have not read yet.

SHADOWSHAPER by Daniel Jose Older

I haven’t purchased this book yet, but the time will eventually come and I’m super excited to read it! I’ve had a few friends read it and enjoy it.

3. A book that has not been released yet.

DEAR MARTIN by Nic Stone

I only very recently heard of this book, but wow, the synopsis sounds so good and I’m totally hyped up for this book! Release date: October 17, 2017.

That’s the end of today’s diversity spotlight! I really enjoyed writing it and I hope you guys found some awesome new books featuring black protagonists!

Have you read any of these books? Did you like them? Do you have any recommendations for books with black protagonists?

Thanks for reading!
